We are very pleased to offer our customers something new: the cell phone bag.

At 4 X 5 inches, it holds [because we tested it as we took photographs] a small point and shoot camera or an I-Phone/Smart phone/I-Pod. It features two pockets, front and back and a Velcro or button & loop closure. The neck chain is optional. My own personal phone bag comes without a chain as I wanted something to keep the phone safe inside the voluminous shoulder bag I carry.

Available immediately are the black with red lips [lots], pink and gray hearts on white [many], and black with iridescent blue alphabet letters [two].

While we were at the photo shoot, we took photos of other fabric prints currently available and, barring emergencies, will be available by February 1st: breast cancer ribbons on black, hot pink polka dots on brown; a funky black swirl on white and gray; and a southwest print. .

New tote bag styles for the New Year

My business partner, Anne [famed for the delightful children's aprons and reversible No Frills Totes she creates], has designed a padded Kindle carrier. It is shown here at the right.
Crafted from 100% calico, it measures 9 X 11 inches and is absolutely lovely. Anne is planning to ensure future bags will be closed with either a button and loop or Velcro to customer preference.
Plus, it's reversible! And washable on a gentle cycle, cool water. Personally, I'd let it line dry to preserve the vibrant color quality.
This will sell for $15.00 + S&H.

In the next 24 hours, I'll be posting the second new style for 2012: the Jelly Tote.
Currently we have it available in shades of aqua, purple grape, burnt oranges, and yellow/black/gray. Future bags will be in a variety of red and white prints, black and whites, misty grays, and another purple grape. The available bags are closed with a funky button and a loop. A zipper simply won't work with this particular design.
The yellow jelly, which is reversible, measures 8" X 21". The orange print, aqua and brown, and purples all measure 13" at the top, 21" at the base and are 15" tall. The purple and aquas could be reversible if our customers want by adding a second button on the opposite side.
Again, each is 100% cotton, washable on a gentle cycle, cool water, line dry.
They will sell for $20.00 + S&H.

Plans for the coming year

In addition to the jewelry bags mentioned below, I'm also going to be making cell phone cases and character bags--small 5 inch bags geared for the younger set--with the Disney princesses or SpongeBob or Dora the Explorer.

Perinton Square in December

On the first and third weekends Kat's KarryAlls was and will be involved at the huge craft show held at the Perinton Square Mall in Fairport, NY. See the pictures to the right and left.
A variety of crafters will be at the mall throughout the month, some every day.
On the second day I practically sold out of Large No Frills totes--thanks to a crafter friend who purchased several bags for Christmas gifts.
Better news were the customers to took the time to discuss the possibility of me making jewelry bags, the kind to safely store and pack jewelry during travel. It would be complicated--at least the first one will be-- but we shall see.
Best news is by the end of the month my new machine--a used Singer Industrial--will be living in my sewing room. I can't wait. There are so many things I'll be able to make, and apparently much faster. That way, I'll be able to save my other machines to sew the delicate and lighter weight fabrics and finish off seams.

Fanny Packs Now Available

I began making fanny packs strictly for survival at craft shows. Carrying a clunky cash box to the ladies john is such a pain. Plus, I wanted some thing at hand to stash a note pad, business cards and an asthma inhaler. Voila--survival mode kicked in.
My first attempt was so successful, I sold it off my waist to a customer who loved the colors and pattern. At the same show I took an order for a child's fanny pack, so those will be available by special order.
The adult packs range from 12-14 inches wide and are 8 inches deep. I make the waist strap big enough to expand or tighten as needed. They sell for $15.00 and are washable on a gentle cycle, cool water, line dry to preserve the vibrancy of the colors.

The "cosmetics" bags, a few of which you'll see at the side of this post, 6-8 inches in size are great for holding those pesky items that always get lost in the bottom of my purse, the cell phone or pager, pens and small note pads. Unless otherwise marked, these babies are fully washable [either by hand or in the machine, gentle cycle, cool water]; line dry to protect the vibrant colors. Prices after December 1st: $5.00 [small]; $6.00 [medium]; $7.00 [large] + S&H.
The toiletries bags were designed to hold hair gels, electric toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair spray--all those things which I need to have in one spot in the suitcase and keep my clothes safe from spills when I'm traveling. They're made from the same washable [in most cases] quilted fabrics, same care instructions. Spiff them up with a medium-hot steam iron. These bags are a bargain at $10 -- 12.00 + S&H.

We Have a New Bag to Offer

ANNOUNCING . . . [drum roll please] . . . The Funky Bag.
The design is based on a door prize from one of those who shall not be named home shows, an insulated lunch bag.
It is approximately 12-14 inches wide, 9-10 inches tall, two pockets on the outside, self fabric or braided-webbing handles.
The one shown here is a zebra print on solid black quilt fabric and [until November 30, 2011] will sell for $17.50.
It drew many positive comments at a recent craft show.

Another New Addition to the Store: the No Frills Tote

I came up with the idea of a no frills tote [no zippers, no pockets, just the bag] as I needed to add bags to display at my summer shows, making them fast and keeping the price down. They sold well--very well.
Some even turned out to be reversible! They are marked as such over the pictures. These bags can be made in any size. I'd even be willing to tear down an existing bag to customer preference.
A customer at my most recent show [the Maplewood YMCA, Rochester NY] is a student at the local community college. She fell in love with one of the no frills totes [shown]. At her preference, I added a zipper and a bottom stabilizer board so that she can use it for a book bag. Everyone turned out a winner with this one.
Again, I can make the bag to customer preference for size, fabric color and pattern, and number of attachments [zippers, pockets, stabilizer bars].

New Additions to the Store!!

I am pleased to offer a new style bag in smaller than my usual size, commonly known as huge!
When I worked in the Operating Room, a few surgeons would say, "big guy, big incision." Now I know what they meant. As a [former] big girl with big hands and fat stubby fingers, it's for me to make big bags. I'm slowly learning not to automatically do that.

To that end, let me show you three basic totes, each has a top zipper closure and four outside pockets, each is lined. The black with pink flowers and green stripes on solid celery quilt are both 14 inches wide by 14 inches tall and sell for $25.00.

The black paisley on solid black quilt is a bit smaller, 12 inches by 12 inches. 4 outside pockets, purchased handles, and a zipper closure. It sells for $17.50.

I made matching cosmetics and toiletries bags which sell at a reduced price to make a set. As always, if you like the style but these three aren't your 'color', this bag can easily be made in another fabric--or morphed from another tote in stock.
